Today, we’ll guide you through what chakras are, what it looks like if they’re blocked, and how a crystal chakra shower head can benefit you.
Most people have heard the term “chakra” at least once before they dive into the world of spirituality. We talk about chakras when we do yoga, work with crystals, and deal with problems in our lives.
While chakras are often associated in the west with new-age spiritualism, which started around the 1970s, chakras were first referenced in an ancient text called the Vedas, which was written in India between 1,500 and 500 BCE.
Today, many people work with their chakras to help them clear emotional, spiritual, or physical problems within themselves. While there are many ways to work with your chakras, one of the most popular ways to interact with your chakras today is with a crystal charka shower head.
What are chakras?
You can think of your chakras as energy centers in the body. The word “chakra” in Sanskrit literally translates as “disk” or “wheel,” but it references spiritual energy centers along the spine, from the top of your head down to your tailbone. These chakras contain prana, which is our happiest, purest form of energy. When our chakras are open and the energy can flow freely, we feel at ease with the world, are not as troubled by issues in our lives, and can express ourselves fully.
We have 7 of these energy centers running up our spine, from our tailbone up to our crown. Here are the different chakras, starting with our base chakra (known as our root chakra), what they mean, and how they influence you.
- Root Chakra (Muladhara in Sanskrit)
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine, sitting within your pelvic floor. This is your foundation. Your root chakra (when in balance) provides you with support, grounding, and stabilization. It helps you to feel rooted in the world, able to endure life’s ups and downs with ease and a greater sense of peace.
When the root chakra is out of balance, we feel unstable, often dealing with anxiety, fear, and a sense that things could go wrong at any time. Physically speaking, this chakra is often blocked when we experience problems with and within our pelvic floor, as well as leg and foot issues.
The color associated with this chakra is red, and so crystals people often use for this chakra include hematite, red jasper, and onyx.
- Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
The sacral chakra is between your hip bones, above your pubic bone but below your belly button. This chakra represents pleasure and passion, offering us both creative and sexual energy. In balance, it gives us openness, abundance, wellness, joy, and creativity.
When the sacral chakra is out of balance, you may have a lack of libido, joy for life, or creativity. Physically, we can experience sexual dysfunction, and hormonal or fertility problems.
The color associated with this chakra is orange, and so crystals people often use for this chakra include sunstone, tiger’s eye, and carnelian.
- Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
The space between your belly button and the bottom of your sternum is where your solar plexus chakra sits. This chakra represents your individuality. In balance, it offers us self-esteem, willpower, clarity of mind, and a willingness to take action.
When the solar plexus chakra is out of balance, you may experience low self-esteem and find it difficult to trust yourself to make decisions. Physically, we can experience stomach issues.
The color associated with this chakra is yellow, and so crystals often used with this chakra include citrine, amber, and pyrite.
- Heart Chakra (Anahata)
Located in the center of your chest, the heart chakra represents where the physical, spiritual, and emotional meet. This chakra represents love and compassion. When in balance, you feel open spiritually, love and compassion flow through you easily, and you feel positive toward yourself and the world around you.
When out of balance, you may feel emotionally distant, hold grudges, and find it difficult to connect with others. Physically, we can suffer from lowered immunity and cardiovascular issues.
The color associated with this chakra is bright green, so crystals people often use with this chakra include jade and malachite.
- Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
Located in your throat, this chakra represents your voice. When in balance, you feel able to speak freely and you speak up for yourself and your beliefs. When out of balance, you’ll often feel unable to speak up, as if your throat is “closed.” You’ll likely let things go that you’re unhappy about, just to keep the peace or to avoid confrontation.
Physically, a blocked throat chakra may show up as issues of the larynx, thyroid, and tonsils.
The throat chakra is associated with the color blue, so crystals typically used with this chakra include lapis lazuli, kyanite, and aquamarine.
- Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
The third eye chakra is located between your eyebrows. This chakra governs your intuition. When this chakra is balanced, you are in tune with yourself and are able to tap into and trust your intuition. When out of balance, you feel unable to trust yourself and find it difficult to make decisions and settle into routines.
Physically, a blocked third eye chakra can manifest as headaches (especially tension headaches at the front of your head), lack of energy, and brain fog.
The color associated with the third eye chakra is indigo – a dark blue-purple. Crystals associated with the third eye include amethyst, labradorite, and purple fluorite.
- Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
The crown chakra is right at the top of your head, where a crown would sit. This chakra is the most spiritual; it represents our connection with our spirituality and higher selves. When this chakra is in alignment, we feel connected with the universe. We often find it easy to connect with our higher selves and feel very secure in our own skin.
When this chakra is out of alignment, we often feel closed-off and listless. We feel as though there is no greater purpose for us, and we lack the motivation to do much of anything. It often feels or appears as depression.
The color associated with this chakra is violet – often leaning lighter towards a lavender color. Crystals people often use to connect with this chakra include lepidolite, clear quartz, and selenite.
How do you unblock and balance your chakras?
Keeping your chakras clear, open, and in alignment is something we must work on throughout our lives. Life events can cause one or more of our chakras to become blocked or to overexpress themselves in a negative way. While each person is an individual, some of the most common ways to keep chakras in alignment are through yoga, meditation, and crystal work. For the latter, many people are benefitting significantly from using a crystal chakra shower head.
What is a crystal chakra shower head?
A crystal chakra shower head is a shower head that has a section in the handle that filters the water through crystals. These crystals are aligned with the chakras, so you’ll typically find 7 different crystals in the shower head.
What are the benefits of using a crystal chakra shower head?
1. Helps you rebalance your chakras
Working with crystals with the corresponding color and energy of each chakra helps you by encouraging your chakras to align with the energy of the crystals. In the same way that you cleanse your crystals in water, the water that has been filtered through the crystals cleanses you and your chakras. The running water ensures the crystals don’t hold onto any negative energy from you, giving you their pure energy.
2. Looks beautiful
While this is a purely aesthetic benefit, there’s no denying that crystal chakra shower heads look beautiful! The rainbow effect of the stones will brighten your day, even if you’re not actively using the shower.
3. Helps you fit in crystal work when you’re short on time
Often, our shower is the only time we truly get to ourselves in the day. Working with a crystal chakra shower head can ensure you have time to cleanse your energy even when you are short on time.
4. Start or end the day with a crystal cleanse
Whether you prefer to start or end the day with a shower, a crystal cleanse can help you to feel refreshed and balanced.
A shower at the beginning of the day can help you get into your own energy before you face the day ahead. So often we immediately take on other people’s troubles before we ever consider our own needs, and so our chakras can quickly get pushed out of alignment. After a shower with your crystal chakra shower head, you’ll be ready to face the day’s challenges.
Similarly, a shower at the end of the day will help you to shake off all the energy that is not your own, helping to realign your chakras and rebalance them if the day’s trials tested you. This will not only set you up well for the next day but help you find peaceful sleep.
5. Helps to increase pH and remove impurities from your water
Most crystal chakra shower heads include stones or balls that buffer the water by removing impurities, balancing the water’s pH, and soften the water if it’s too hard. Since all of these things can lead to dry skin and irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin, a shower head like this can be the secret to restoring healthy hair and skin.
6. Work with 7 stones at once with ease
Working with a lot of stones at once can be daunting during a meditation session, but the ease of the crystal chakra shower head means you can focus all your energy on yourself, rather than trying to consider how to incorporate individual crystals into your practice. If you’re new to working with crystals, this is also a great way to start working with their energy in a setting where you are already in think-and-rejuvenation mode.
A crystal chakra shower head is an easy addition to your daily routine that will ensure you unblock your chakras, rebalance your energy, and cleanse your energy regularly. If you find it hard to schedule alone time to meditate with your crystals, a crystal chakra shower head will ensure you need to do little else than step into the shower and focus your intentions to feel refreshed and energetically renewed.
